OBJECTIVES

The Superintendence of Securities is a technical public entity, which organizes, regulates and promotes the Colombian Securities Public Market, and also  exercises the oversight and the control duties delegated by the President of the Republic of Colombia.  This entity reports directly to the Colombian Ministry of Finance and Public Credit.

MISSION STATEMENT

To keep a fair, sound and organized Securities Public Market the Superintendence of Securities works on:

• The oversight of the market participants, including:  securities brokers and dealers, securities exchanges, warranty funds, investment fund managers, mutual funds, securities deposit account managers, credit rating agencies and securitization companies.
• The surveillance of the market transactions, to verify that these are carried out in a safe and a sound manner.
• The promotion of high level standards for an effective surveillance and timely investigations, for any kind of market manipulation and all other sorts of misconduct.

• The promotion of high levels of transparency in the activities that the market participants accomplish.
• The establishment of a disclosure-based regime to provide investors the information they need, to achieve responsible investment decisions.
• The awareness of risks, rights and self-responsibility in the securities public market.
• The assurance of a public access to all relevant information about the securities traded and their issuers.
