Securities market authorized operations

Securities market authorized operations

In the exercise of the activity of securities intermediation, the following intermediation operations may be carried out (Article 7.1.1.1.2 of Decree 2555 of 2010): 

OPERATION WHO CAN EXECUTE IT?
Transactions executed in the development of the commission contract for the acquisition or disposal of securities registered in the RNVE (in Spanish) or foreign securities listed in a local foreign securities quotation system. Local broker dealers
Operations executed in the development of third-party portfolio management and securities administration contracts for the acquisition or disposal of securities registered in the RNVE (in Spanish) or foreign securities listed in a local foreign securities quotation system.
Brokerage operations on securities registered in the RNVE (in Spanish) or foreign securities listed in a local foreign securities quotation system.
Transactions executed in the development of commercial trust agreements for the acquisition or disposal of securities registered in the RNVE (in Spanish) or foreign securities listed in a local foreign securities quotation system, provided that they do not give rise to the linking of the settlor or the respective constituent to a mutual investment fund managed by a trust company. Trust companies
Operations carried out in the course of the activities of a fund manager, for the acquisition and disposal of securities registered with RNVE (in Spanish) or foreign securities listed in a local foreign securities quotation system.
  • Local broker dealers in their capacity as administrators of collective investment funds and foreign capital investment funds.  
  • Trust companies in their capacity as administrators of collective investment funds, voluntary pension funds and investment funds with foreign capital. 
  • Pension and severance fund management companies in their capacity as administrators of compulsory pension funds, voluntary pension funds and unemployment funds.
  • Insurance companies in their capacity as administrators of voluntary pension funds. 
  • Investment management companies in their capacity as administrators of mutual investment funds.
Placement operations of securities registered in the RNVE (in Spanish) or foreign securities listed in foreign securities quotation systems through agreements for the integration of stock exchanges, in which the placement intermediary guarantees all or part of the issuance or acquires all or part of the securities of the same on its own account,  to place them later on the market as the case may be; as well as, the operations of placing securities at the best effort.
  • Independent local broker dealers
  • Financial Corporations

Note: Banking establishments, financial corporations and local broker dealers, acting as market makers, may place public debt securities issued by the Nation, and may or may not guarantee the placement.
Transactions carried out on their own account and directly for the acquisition and disposal of securities registered in the RNVE (in Spanish) or listed in a local foreign securities quotation system.
  • Entities supervised by the Financial Superintendency of Colombia that are affiliated with a securities settlement system.

Note: Only entities supervised by the SFC and entities of a public nature may be affiliated to a securities trading system.

Note: Only entities supervised by the SFC may be affiliated to a securities transaction registration system.
The offer of services of any nature for the performance of securities intermediation operations. Likewise, the offer of services to negotiate, process, manage, administer or order the execution of any type of operation with securities, derivative financial instruments, structured products, collective investment funds, private equity funds or other financial assets that generate expectations of economic benefits.  
  • Entities supervised by the SFC through natural persons that are duly certified and registered in the National Registry of Securities Market Professionals (RNPMV in Spanish)
